School has begun. The halls are filled with children’s laughter; so excited to be in school, and some tears; a little apprehensive of new classrooms, teachers, and even school for the first time. Summer was so much fun, but it is always nice to start the new school year and get back into our uniforms and the routine that the school year brings. If your child is having a hard time when you leave in the morning, please be patient. I promise, it does get better.
Welcome back to those families that took the summer off, and welcome to all of our new families. We are thrilled to have so many friends to spend our days with. I am excited to get to know everyone a little better each day.
Please note: we have gone COMPLETELY NUT FREE this year. Please do not send any nut products in your child’s lunch. If your child is a fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a couple of great alternatives are Wow Butter and sunflower butter. If you do send one of these products, please label it in your child’s lunch box so that the teachers know that it is a safe product for school.
Please be sure that your child has a COMPLETE change of clothes at school at all times. This is important in case of spills or bathroom accidents.
Please mark the following dates on your calendar:
Lifetouch Portraits will be on campus from August 31st-September 2nd. Please bring your child in uniform since we will be taking pictures for our 2016-2017 yearbook. If you would like your child to also have photos done in another outfit, we ask that you stay with your child to help them change. With 140 students, it is difficult to take care of that many wardrobe changes.
We will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 5th.
Please join us for Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 7th, from 6:30-7:30 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to gain important information from your child’s teachers regarding classroom expectations. This evening is designed for adults. Therefore, we respectfully request that children do not attend.
We would like to invite all grandparents to join us on Friday, September 9th, from 8:15-9:00 am. Please give us the opportunity to celebrate the important impact that you make every day in your grandchild’s life.
We will be hosting our Fall Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, September 19th, through Friday, September 23rd. This is a great opportunity to build your child’s library at home.
We will be having a coin drive to support Leukemia research from Monday, September 19th, through Friday, September 30th. This is a wonderful way to get rid of all of that loose change and help out at the same time.
My door is always open, so please feel free to stop in to say hello. I would love to get to know each of you better.
