Cold toes and frosty noses indicate that winter may be just around the corner.
Thank you to everyone for your generous food donations in the month of November. Our Kindergarten students took a field trip to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth to pass on your generosity. Although we had a bit of a hiccup in our Thanksgiving Feast, the food was delicious and the company, even better. It was great to have so many of you join us. I hope that your own Thanksgivings were filled with delicious food and memories with family and friends.
We now find ourselves jumping into December, which always brings about busy schedules and full calendars. We want to be sure to point out a few things to add to yours:
- We are sponsoring a toy drive from November 28th through December 9th. You may donate a new, unwrapped toy any time throughout these dates. Our Kindergarten students will be taking a field trip to give all donated items to HELP of Southern Nevada, sponsored by the KLUC Toy Drive.
- Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting our school on Wednesday, December 7th, to take photos with the children. Envelopes with package options have been sent home with your child. If you are interested in having your child’s photo taken, please return your envelope, with payment, no later than Tuesday, December 6th. Only children who have had an envelope returned will see Santa and have their photo taken.
- Pizza Friday will be on December 9th.
- Our Family Holiday Program will be held on Wednesday, December 14th, from 6:00-7:30 PM. Please join us for cookie decorating, crafts, a visit from Santa and a special presentation from your children.
- Each classroom will hold Holiday Parties on Friday, December 16th. Please see your child’s teacher for details.
- School will not be in session from December 19th through January 2nd, with closures on December 26th and January 2nd. We will be hosting a Winter Camp, filled with fun activities for your children. Please turn in your camp reservation form by December 5th if your child will be attending. We must have a minimum of 10 children scheduled for each day in order for us to hold camp.
If you have questions regarding any of the above events, please see either Mrs. Louis-Jacques or myself.
With cold and flu season upon us, I would like to send out a friendly reminder to please keep your children home from school when they are ill. Although we clean, sanitize and are diligent with the hand-washing, the children pass germs from one to another so easily and illnesses spread quite quickly with little ones. We appreciate your consideration and assistance with this issue and helping to keep our students well.
Wishing your family a safe and special holiday season,
Mrs. Luther
