Spring in in full swing and believe it or not, we only have 2 months of school left. At Merryhill, we are working on graduation, gearing up for summer, and planning for fall. Many of our classrooms already have waiting lists for the 2017-2018 school year. If you have not yet signed your child up or you know of a family that would like to join our Merryhill community, please know that we have very limited space available.
March definitely came in like a lion, with warm weather, wind and a lot of pollen and allergies. We know that many of our children experience allergies, sometimes severe, this time of year. Please keep in mind that we do spend time outdoors every day and are unable to keep children inside without a physician’s note.
Thank you for your participation in the book fair. Your purchases and contributions to the teachers continue to build our school library. We would also like to shout out to the Strosser family for their help in running the book fair.
Last month, we enjoyed a visit from Mr. Graham, who played the bagpipes while wearing traditional Scottish dress, including a kilt. He spoke to the children about his clothing and his unique instrument. Next month, we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with mariachis and a taco lunch. Families are welcome to join us.
Looking at April, please mark your calendars for the following events:
If you ordered from the Butter Braids fundraiser, your orders will be delivered to the school on April 6th, around 11:00 am. Please make arrangements to pick up your items as close to this time as possible, as we do not have enough refrigerator space to accommodate everyone’s orders.
April 7th is Pizza Friday, as well as a free dress day. With a $5.00 donation to support Autism, your child may wear an outfit of his/her choice to school. Please make your donation at the front desk.
April 10th-14th is Spring Break. There will be no school this week. Camp will be provided for those students that have reserved their spot.
Again this year, we will support St. Judes Cancer Research by hosting a Trike-a-Thon. This will take place the week of April 17th-21st. Classroom schedules, as well as information on how you can help, will be sent home.
April 24th-28th is the Week of the Young Child. Be sure to mark these events on your calendar:
- Monday=Wishing Wall: Stop by our Wishing Wall to write down one wish that you have for your child.
- Tuesday=Photo Booth: Join us between the hours of 9:00-12:00 for some fun, family photo time.
- Wednesday=Rad Tad: Rad Tad, from the City of Henderson, will be coming by at 9:30 to teach your children about water safety.
- Thursday=Picnics: The children will enjoy a snack or lunch time outside.
- Friday=Children’s Choice Dress Day: This day is all about your child’s individual sense of style. Please allow your child the freedom to choose what he/she would like to wear to school today.
April 28th is our Annual Art Festival. Families are invited to join us for an evening of food, fun and family. The cost will be $45.00 for a family of 4. This will also include your child’s canvas. Tickets will be purchased in advance and will be available starting the week of April 17th.
Thank you for all of your support in helping us to provide an excellent learning environment for your children.
