Dear Parents,
Re-registration was a huge success! Thank you for taking advantage of our early bird period by securing your child’s space for the 2017/2018 school year. We are excited and thankful you have decided once again to choose Merryhill School for your child’s continuing education, and look forward to another year of watching your treasures grow in our care!
We are in the final stretch of our 2016/2017 school year, and it is clearly evident that our children are reaching new heights in development. Many of our students are working on higher level skills to meet their growing needs. That’s the beauty of our Links to Learning curriculum; it grows with your child. That said, student transitions to the next level will take place on August 7th. You will be notified in advance to prepare your child for what lies ahead.
Planning continues for our Pre-Kindergarten graduation ceremony. The date will be Thursday, June 1st. Once we have the details completed we will be sending out more information.
Mark your calendar! On Friday, April 21st at 10:00am our students will participate in a hands-on learning experience about the environment as they release 4,500 ladybugs to commemorate Earth Day. It is never too early to start teaching children the importance of keeping our planet clean and learning how to reduce, reuse, and recycle. With a little guidance and supervision, children can get creative helping our earth. After all, small steps can lead to big changes. Our Earth Day Ladybug release program is a pest management initiative. Ladybugs eat other harmful pests like aphids and mealy bugs providing an earth-friendly way to maintain the ecosystem without using harsh chemicals. On release day each child will have an opportunity to explore their senses as they hold ladybugs and watch them fly off to do their part in helping planet earth stay healthy and green. The excitement the children will have in releasing these little ladybugs is a sight to see. What a great nature experience. Leading up to this event, students will explore, create, and learn about the life cycle of a ladybug. The children will also create polka dot ladybug hats or wings. Don’t forget your camera and stay tuned for our fun Earth Day display!
