It is official…fall is here! The cooler weather and shorter days make it obvious that the seasons have changed. With the cooler temperatures, we are able to spend more time outdoors; reading and enjoying science activities and snacks.
As we look at the month, we have some dates for you to mark on your calendars:
- Friday, October 6th: Staff Development Day. No school
- Friday, October 13th: Pizza Friday and Free Dress Day. If you have not already signed your child up to participate in our monthly Pizza Fridays, please stop by the front desk for more information. This Free Dress Day will be held to support Juvenile Diabetes research. With a donation dropped off at the front desk, we invite your child to pick out an outfit of his/her choice to wear to school this day.
- Friday, October 20th: Annual Halloween Extravaganza, from 5:00-7:00 pm. Please join us for an evening of fun, complete with ponies, train rides, food, family, and more. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, October 2nd. The cost is $15.00 per person through October 13th, and will increase to $20.00 per person the week of October 16th. Children, 18 months and younger are free. The fee includes all food, rides, games and prizes. Raffle tickets will be available for sale for $1.00 each. Each classroom will sponsor a themed basket to be raffled off. We will be asking for parent donations for items to fill the baskets. We will also be having a silent auction, with items donated by local companies. On that note, if you have access to gift certificates, concert or show tickets, or other items that you would like to donate to our raffle, we will be most appreciative. Please see a member of the administrative team to make your donation. All proceeds support our Enrichment Program, which brings in special activities for your children each month. Such activities include Petting Zoo 2 U, our family Thanksgiving Feast, and Holiday Program to name a few.
- Friday, October 27th: Nevada Day observed. No school.
- Tuesday, October 31st: Classroom Halloween parties. Please check with your child’s teacher for details regarding classroom parties.
PARKING—The parking lot is a busy place and we work very closely with Coral Academy to ensure that it runs smoothly and safely for all. The parking lot helpers that you see in the morning, and perhaps the afternoon, are all parent volunteers from Coral Academy and they really do a wonderful job keeping traffic flowing. One of the areas that I feel would be helpful on our part, would be Merryhill parent volunteers to help stop traffic, to aide in helping our parents with their little ones cross the Coral drop off lane safely. This would require you to be available from 7:30-8:15 am. With enough volunteers, we would be able to divide the days up so that no parent is here daily, but maybe one morning a week or so. If you feel that this is a commitment that you can make, please see a member of our administrative staff. Thank you.
Thank you, Merryhill Parents, for making our community the best.
