A Note from our Principal,
Dear Families,
This month we are celebrating a No-Candy Valentine’s Day as well as Dr. Seuss! For the week of Valentine’s Day, we will be celebrating Friendships in the classroom and throughout the school! In lieu of sugary sweets like candy and chocolate, students are encouraged to create cards or pictures for their friends that say how much they value their friendship. We love to see what our students can create and are looking forward to what they bring come up with!
Throughout Dr. Seuss week we will have Principal Jill and Ms. Darice touring throughout the school for Story Time! We will be reading from a variety of Dr. Seuss books that will be entertaining for all of the students! If you would like to visit your child’s class and read a Dr. Seuss book we would love to have you! Please speak with Ms. Jill or Ms. Darice to help you organize a time to come and visit as a Guest Reader.
On February 5th and 6th, students aged 2.5-5 will have the oppportunity to participate in a Free Vision Screening at no cost. If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please let Ms. Jill or Ms. Darice know. Please see the attached poster, it is also posted on the entry ways in our lobby.
New this month! Our Intermediate, PreK-1 and PreK-2 classes will be moving to Family Style Meals! Family style meals teach the children how to socialize and serve themselves in a safe-inclusive setting! Read more about Family-Style Meals.
New this month! This month we will be doing away with coloring sheets and templates in order to encourage our students to create from within! The imagination of your child knows no bounds, and we want to celebrate that creativity by giving them the opportunity to create on their own, with a friend or however they so choose.
In closing, I want to thank each of you for handling the changes to our classrooms and staff with ease and an open mind. I look forward to the growth that our school will have and I am excited to have each and every one of you, and all of our staff on board for the changes to come.
Sincerely,
Jill McSpadden, Principal
