Dear Parents,
Spring has finally arrived and we want to make sure all of our students can take full advantage of our outdoor play spaces. One of the best ways to ensure this is for each child’s cubby to be cleaned out and ready for the season. Please make sure that your child’s cubby has a full set of well-fitting weather appropriate clothes that are labeled. Additionally, now is a great time to start collecting sunscreen so that we are ready for the first hot and sunny day of the year. Please label all containers of sunscreen that you send to school with your child. Our teachers are planning outdoor games and lessons to celebrate spring. We can’t wait to share these activities with your child!
This month we will participate in the Week of the Young Child. The Week of the Young Child is an annual international celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, and families. Each day we will have a special theme and activity to join the celebration. More information will be coming soon.
April also brings Earth Day. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about taking care of the earth and preserving it for many centuries to come. As a part of our Earth Day celebration, we will be releasing butterflies. At the beginning of the month we will be beginning the caterpillar transformation. We will daily observe the changes that the caterpillars make until they become a butterfly. We hope you will share in this exciting experiment and discovery.
Sincerely,
Anita Johnson, Principal
