A Note From Our Principal
We had a wonderful summer but are thrilled to be kicking off a new school year with all of our families and students. Our teachers have been working hard all summer to ensure that this is a productive and fun year for each of our classrooms. To ensure that everyone is off to a great start, we’ve included some helpful tips below. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Links 2 Home:
- Download the Links2Home app on your smart phone to assure you are getting pictures, text alerts and emails from the school.
- If you choose not to download the app – information will go to your email so please be sure to check your email regularly.
Hours:
- Merryhill’s operation hours are from 6:30am – 6:00pm
- A late fee of $1 / minute will be added to your account for every minute after 6:00 that your child is picked up.
Tuition:
- Tuition is due every Monday w/ a late fee of $25 assessed at noon on Tuesdays if not paid in full.
Entrance into School / Door Code:
- We have a door code that is given to families after they have started with Merryhill School. We ask that you do not give this code to anyone, but to ask them to knock so we can let them in.
- Children should not at any time be allowed to punch in the code.
- We do not want them to share the code with anyone
- If the code is put in too many times incorrectly the system will freeze up.
Cubbies:
- Please check your child’s cubby every day to make sure your child has:
- Extra change of clothes – that are weather appropriate
- Crib sheet
- Small blanket
- Bedding should be taken home every Friday to be washed
- Everything should be labeled with your child’s name
Breakfast:
- Merryhill provides a light breakfast every morning, however if you child arrives early you can bring with you a breakfast that your child can eat in the classroom, up until 7:45am. After 7:45am all food will be put away and children will not be able to eat until we serve breakfast in their room.
Nut Free Zone:
- Merryhill does not allow peanuts, peanut butter or nut products of any kind due to allergies
- This ban includes: Honey nut cheerios and almond or cashew milk,
Water Bottles:
- Merryhill offers access to water at all times inside or outside, but children can bring water bottles.
- All water bottles must be labeled
- All water bottles must be taken home on a daily basis so we can assure they have been washed and have been filled with fresh water.
Toys:
- Toys from home are not allowed at Merryhill
- If a child brings a toy we will ask that they keep it in their cubby or up front if it is a distraction.
- Exception: stuffed animals or blankets that are comfort items for nap time – only if needed
Drop off /Pick Up:
- When dropping off and picking up your child – please make sure you have told the teacher so that they can either check them in or out of their system
- Check in and out your child using the electronic key pad. For drop off: before you go to the classroom. For pick up – after you have picked them up from the classroom.
Parking Lot:
- Do not park in the disabled spaces unless you have a proper placard – we have parents who need these spaces and the city of Sacramento will ticket.
- Do not park in the red zone – the fire dept. will ticket
- Make sure you have control of your child at all times in the parking lot
- Drive slowly
- Do not leave any valuables in the front seat of your car – such as a purse, laptop, phones, etc…
These are just a few helpful hints/tips to help you on a daily basis. We encourage you to please ask questions anytime so we can help you navigate all that you need to remember.
Sincerely,
Susan Freitag – Principal
