Dear Merryhill families,
Tick-tock…tick-tock…tick-tock…
The countdown to the Holidays begins!
Things will be getting busier and busier as the holidays approach. Please remember to read the notes we send home, check the white board in front of the preschool door, and check our website capitol.merryhillschool.com to mark important dates on your calendars.
Our annual “Giving” event that we host every year is the “Toys for Tots” toy drive. This event kicked off yesterday. We have our Holiday Tree up and ready to receive the unwrapped, new toys. Please bring in an unwrapped, new toy for “a child in need” and your child will receive their name on a star for our Holiday Tree. Addison Pervorse and the Villanueva family gave the first presents under the tree! Thank you Pervorse and Villanueva Family for being the first one to decorate our Merryhill tree! The due date for the unwrapped toys is Friday, December 13th. We will have the US Marines come out right after that to say hello to the children and take our Toys for Tots toys to the children in need for the Holidays! Let’s beat our last year’s amount of 82 toys donated!
Our Holiday Show is coming! We normally do all of our events outside to fit all of our lovely families, but with the winter’s cold and wet weather we need to be inside. All shows will be located in the Intermediate Room. The Holiday Shows will start next week!! See below show schedule:

And the fun never ends! Santa Claus will be coming to Merryhill School on Wednesday, December 18th at 9:00 AM. Santa always comes with gifts for the children! These gifts are brought in by YOU, the parents…please! Each family will bring in one or two wrapped books, so that we have enough wrapped books to give out from Santa. Please bring the gift wrapped book in by Friday, December 13th. Turn your wrapped book in to the Preschool Office. Easy book buying is right next door! All next week the Elementary School is having their Scholastic Book Fair. You can pick up your book to donate for Santa there!

Important Note for future Kindergartners:
For our children who are graduating to Kindergarten in the new school year, visit the Elementary front office for information on how to reserve your spot! Thank you for joining Ms Sousae at her Open House last month, November 7th. We had the highest number of Pre-K families attend that mid-week Open House!! We are thrilled to see the excitement for Kindergarten! This Open House gave you an opportunity to see our Kindergarten classroom, students, and teachers. If you missed it, don’t worry, there will also be a Kindergarten Orientation on the Elementary side January 22, from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, daycare will be provided. This would be the perfect time to learn more about the program. Keep an eye out for Joan Sousae’s emails. She has emailed you already. If you are not receiving her emails, please reach out to her. If you cannot make it to the Kindergarten Orientation event, or you want to see the Elementary School sooner, you can always schedule a personal tour with Ms. Sousae (Principal), Ms. Yesenia (Office Administrator), or Ms. Christine (Admissions Coordinator). The contact number is 408-254-1282. You can also email them at joan.sousae@nlcinc.com, Yesenia.camacho@nlcinc.com and Christine.Van@nlcinc.com.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns my door is always open. We are here to help you and “our” children in any way we can. Everyone at Merryhill is special and important to us. Let us continue to make this a great school year!

Parent Referral Program:
If there’s one thing parents love to do, it’s talk about their children’s successes.
When friends ask you about your child’s experiences at Merryhill School, what type of success stories do you share? Do you mention the personal and educational discoveries your child is making thanks to our advanced curriculum? Do you talk about the new levels of self and social confidence your child has gained thanks to our encouraging atmosphere?
*For every new child you refer who enrolls at our school for three months, you’ll receive one FREE week of tuition for your child*.
It’s our way of saying thanks for doing what comes naturally – singing the praises of your child and sharing your experiences with the Merryhill School difference!!
