Happy New Year and welcome 2020!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season with your friends and family. I am sure there were many wonderful memories made during this magical time of year. I know I enjoyed every minute with my family!
Our Toys for Tots was a success again with collecting over 100 toys for the children in need this holiday season! The Marines came to talk to the children about Toys for Tots. The children also helped pack up the Marines’ van for the delivery of the toys to the children in need. Thank you so much for making our “Giving Project” a huge success and beating last year’s donations by over 20 more toys given away!
With the New Year upon us, it is the time to look at the New Year ahead and start planning for what we have in store. January is the month that Merryhill School starts priority registration for the new school year that will start on June 1, 2020. It is hard to believe that we will already start re-registering all of you tomorrow, January 8th, 2020. You will have less than 3 weeks to save a seat for your child before we open it up to the outside public families at our Open House on Saturday, January 25th. Everyone here at Merryhill needs to re-register in order to hold a seat for June 2020 – June 2021 school year. Like I mentioned, we will have an Open House and registration for the outside public families on Saturday, January 25th from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. You will want to make sure you save your spot before the outside families come to the Open House and take the remaining spots, and the classrooms fill up. Last year we fill up and started a waiting list for the new school year AT the Open House. With that being said, register before January 25th or you will be on a waiting list and won’t be able to continue past June 2020 and that will make me very sad!
During priority registration period we will also offer a great discount! This year we are waiving the activity fee! That is a $100.00 discount! See separate email for details on Priority Registration and time frame sent today.
We have started the second half of the school year and there are lots of fantastic learning experiences ahead of us. Every year we have our annual snow day here at Merryhill Preschool. Yes, real snow gets delivered to our backyard and the children get to wear their snow outfits and play in the snow! So far, we have the Snow Day planned for this Friday January 10th starting at 9:30 am (weather app shows full sun and 59 degrees). Bring your cameras, caps, hats and gloves and join in the fun!! There will be 2 tons of real snow dumped in our playground!! Not only will we play in the snow, but we will also learn about it using our Links To Learning Curriculum!
Attention Pre-K families:
I have a couple important reminders for children graduating to Kindergarten next school year.
For our children who are graduating to Kindergarten in the new school year 2020/2021, visit the Elementary front office for information on how to reserve your spot! They are starting Priority Registration tomorrow, Wednesday the 8th and ending Priority Registration on January 23rd. Please make sure you register during this time frame too in order to save your spot for Kindergarten! There will be a Kindergarten Orientation Night on the Elementary side, January 22nd from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. This would be the perfect time to learn more about the program. Keep an eye out for Joan Sousae’s email and flyers placed in your child’s take home file. The Principal will also have a fun “POP UP COFFEE” Monday, January 13th from 8:30am – 10:30am on the Elementary side!! Joan Sousae and I will have a barista serve custom ordered coffee, tea and hot chocolate for you on the Elementary side in the front lobby. If you cannot make it to any of those events, you can always schedule a personal tour with the Elementary Administration team. Please contact the Elementary School to schedule a personal tour.
