A Note From Our Principal,
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the families at Merryhill Rocklin that have made me feel at home as I learn my way around the building, meeting new faces and engaging with new students each day. Our parents are the driving force behind our programs and I thank you sincerely for welcoming me into your school.
A little about me – I grew up in a moderately small town outside of Toronto, Ontario (Canada). I did my Bachelors degree in Human Kinetics in Nova Scotia and after graduating, I worked at a ski resort for many years in British Columbia. I longed to travel internationally so I found a job at a Private Preschool teaching English in South Korea. In addition to embracing every bit of Korean culture, I completed my Masters degree in Education, using my students as “guinea pigs” as I tried out new theories to help them learn English in the best way possible. I then moved to small-rural community in Japan where I was able to travel around to a variety of preschools to teach English. It was a trulu unique and authentic experience! My husband and I now live in South Natomas with our son, Will – 20m, and our two crazy dogs, Maggie and Brandy.
I love all activities to do with winter – hockey, snowshoeing, making snow forts and drinking hot chocolate!
I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next couple of months and please know that my door is always open.
In anticipation of spring, our teachers are busy planning meaningful learning activities that will help students gain an appreciation for the changing seasons. In order to make the most of the next few months we will be spending extra time outdoors so our students can interact with nature. Please make sure your child has weather appropriate outerwear for school each day and if you haven’t done so already, be sure to bring in sunscreen, and complete the Sunscreen form to allow us to put your sunscreen on your child.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Jill McSpadden, MA Ed.
