A Message from the Principal

Dear Merryhill Families,

While much has changed and will continue to change, the core values of our work endure: we will continue our focus on the growth and development of your child, we will continue curating learning opportunities, and we will continue our outreach and support to you as parents and caregivers.

During school closure, we will share with you rich, weekly learning experiences aligned to our Links to Learning Curriculum to help your child grow smarter, stronger and kinder.  Our distance learning program will remain holistically focused on all developmental learning domains: language and literacy, mathematics, science and social studies, social-emotional, creative expression, wellness and citizens of the world. These activities will utilize some age-appropriate technology with adult supervision and will not need specialized materials.

Our goal is to provide you and your child with opportunities for on-going support and connection.
• Each Friday, you will receive a set of activities for the upcoming week. There are three highlighted activities per day, with connected learning extensions. You will receive these via our Links to Home communication tool.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for your understanding and patience during these unprecedented circumstances.  Please be assured that we are vigorously working to ensure continuity in providing high quality education while we navigate through these difficult times.  We wish for your safety and the good health of your family.

Sincerely,

Maria Zaccheo

Zoom

As we continue to connect and communicate using Links to Home and other traditional means, we will soon activate the web conferencing tool Zoom for our schools.  Zoom will be our primary video conferencing tool for parent meetings and potential virtual  gatherings.  Preparations for use of the Zoom platform are underway so we can connect virtually as soon as possible. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we launch this new communication tool.

How should I prepare the home environment for school?

• Establish a consistent schedule and routines for your family
• Define a physical space that will be dedicated to completing each day’s learning activities
and where you can comfortably work alongside your child
• Monitor communications from your children’s teacher
• Establish a time for quiet and rest
• Encourage physical activity
• Monitor how much time your child is spending on screens
