A Note From Our Principal,
We hope that you all had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with loved ones. Merryhill-Laguna is thankful for our families as I appreciate your patience and partnership with all the changes that have occurred during this pandemic. We are also thankful for our wonderful teachers as they remain dedicated and are implementing a wealth of learning activities for your children. I hope you are enjoying your photos as I always seem to smile seeing your children having a good time in their classrooms or with their friends. As the winter holidays approach, we have many special activities planned for our students and look forward to spending the season with them. We’ve also enclosed several important winter and holiday reminders in this newsletter. Please read through it carefully and reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Happy holidays!
Sincerely,
Karina Medina
School Closure Reminders
As a reminder, we do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close for any reason, you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. We also post notifications on our website.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warmly enough to play outside for part of the day. We want everyone to be able to participate!
Illness Policy Reminder
Our parents are vital partners in helping us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. For more information please see our Parent Handbook or reach out to a member of our administrative team.
Holiday Closures
Our school is closed on December 24th-25th for Christmas break and December 31st- January 1st for New Year’s break.
Classroom Holiday Celebrations—Friday, December 18th

On Friday, December 18th, we will showcase A Very Merry Merryhill Holiday Special at 7:00pm. We will miss having parents attend this year’s holiday celebrations yet we hope you all enjoy the holiday show with your family at home! A zoom link will be sent on December 17th.
Holiday Giving Project
During the holidays, Merryhill always gives back to the community by helping others in need. This year we will participate in the Elk Grove Police Department- Toy Project. From December 7th to December 15th we will collect unwrapped toys for families in need. Volunteers from the Police and Fire Department will drop off the gifts to the families. Our teachers will talk to the children about the concept of helping others.
