A Note From Our Principal,
Happy New Year! We can’t wait to spend 2021 with you and your children! Thank you to all who participated in our holiday giving initiative last month. We are very proud to tell you that our Merryhill Families helped us donate 33 books and 47 pairs of PJ’s to the non-profit organization, KidsFirst Counseling & Family Resource Center in Roseville! When Ms. Lisa dropped off our items, the woman working said she was so incredibily thankful for the donation because they were not able to host their annual Christmas party this year due to the restrictions in place. This event is how they would have normally collected items for their kids. I am so happy that we could give back and support this amazing group! Through this initiative, you helped our students, your children, the value of spreading kindness and helping others in their community.
KidsFirst is a nonprofit, community-based organization operating counseling and family resource centers which empower, educate and strengthen families through prevention, early detection, intervention and treatment programs.

Are you in the midst of Potty Train? Please make sure …
CUBBY is STOCKED: With at least 3 sets of: pants (no buttons, easy to pull down and up – no onesies), undies, socks and an extra pair of shoes each day. Rubber shoes work great because they can be rinsed off after an accident if needed.
CONSISTENCY is KEY: Are you and your child’s teacher following the same potty routines at home and at school? Unsure? Reach out to Ms. Jenae, Ms. Jenn or Ms. Kasey! Are you just starting out or thinking about it? Talk to your child’s teacher and create a potty routine that can be easily replicated at school and at home.
PATIENCE is PARAMOUNT: Let your child pull down their own pants, wipe their own bottom and wash their own hands. This is all part of the learning process and the more we allow them to practice these self-help skills, the more self-confidence they will develop and the more willing they will be to partake in the potty training routine.
POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT: Do you find yourself getting frustrated when your child has an accident? Don’t be afraid to scale back and try again a month later. Rather than getting angry, remember that potty training takes time, so let your child off the hook, shrug your shoulders and say, “oops!” and try again next time. Every accident is a learning opportunity so let’s make this a positive learning opportunity for everyone 🙂
THE GOAL: In order to move up to the next classroom (Intermediates), students must be fully potty trained. Our next transition will begin in June and will continue throughout the summer as graduates leave and children turn 3. As we turn a new leaf in 2021, please let us know how we can help your child conquer the world of potty training!
Winter Clothing Reminder
We are 100% done with shorts and skirts! If you have not already done so, please ensure your child’s cubby has an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students must come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warmly enough to play outside for part of the day. It is a licensing requirement that we get our kiddos outside as weather allows, so please ensure they are appropriately dressed. If you can’t get it on them at home, please put it in their backpack so that we can put it on them before we go outside.
