Dearest families,
Last month was very busy with our spectacular Spring Show, our brilliant Butterfly Release Party for our annual Earth Day Celebration, Week of the Young child special events and the terrific Trike-A-Thon! We are sure you enjoyed it all just as much as we did by viewing all the pictures we sent to your emails and through the Links2Home APP.
This month we are spoiling our staff all next week for Teacher Appreciation Week! We have already planned something extra special for them to enjoy every day from Taco Tuesday, Spa gift bag, shaved ice from the Kona Ice Truck and so much more. If you would like to do something special too, I will email you separately a list of safe ideas for you to spoil them too.
Parent surveys are complete, and I want to thank you again for all your kind words and appreciation!! I have printed these kudos and placed them in an area so that the teachers can read them. It will surely make their day even brighter! There are a couple areas that we can work on. We always welcome that positive feedback from you. I know it has been hard not being able to come into your child’s classroom and visit with the teachers like before and look at the teacher’s lesson plan to see what they have planned in terms of learning that week. We hear you and look forward to seeing you inside of the school sooner than later! To help with that, we have a great new tool that some of the parents are already using in your Links2Home APP. It is the IM or “instant message” feature. You can IM your teacher to request that they take a picture of the lesson plan and send it to you, so you can see exactly what the teacher has planned for learning that week! It is quick and easy, and our teachers will be happy to send it to you. This IM feature is also great for a quick question for the teacher or request to have a phone call conversation to help with communicating. We are happy to think of alternate ways to help with communication to your teachers since you are not able to come in at this time. Please know that you do not need to wait for the parent survey to let us know what else we can do for you to help better your experience here at Merryhill School. As always, if you have any questions or concerns my door is always open. We are here to help you and “our” children in any way we can. Everyone at Merryhill is special and important to us.
Pre-K graduation is on Wednesday, June 2nd @ 3:30! (Remember we are closed Thursday June 3rd and Friday June 4th for Teacher In-Service Day) We have decided that we will not have families come to the graduation this year. We are still going to have our graduation here at the school and the children are still going to get dressed up in their cap and gown, receive their diploma and perform for you, but it will all be virtually via Zoom Meet. We will not be recording it, so please make sure you set the time aside to be there virtually through zoom.
We have all had an amazing school year even though it has been different. It has been challenging at times, but it has made us stronger and wiser! We are all very lucky to be part of the Merryhill School Community because we have been open and operating since June! Our children have been able to get back to “mostly normal” compared to other schools who just could not open and make it work. Because we have been open our children are ahead of many others and I cannot wait to be able to offer that to more children in the new school year! We are almost out of the woods, so continue to stay safe and follow the guidance from CDC and Santa Clara County Health Department as we do, and we will be back to completely normal sooner than we know it. School is so important for our children in terms of social skills, structured environment, learning and super important for you, the parent, to have them back to school, so you can work freely!
We have learned so much from each other, our teachers, and our Links to Learning curriculum this year. We look forward to meeting new friends in the new school year and strengthening our friendships with the old. We will miss our Pre-K students and families so much, but we know that they are completely ready for their next learning adventure in Kindergarten!
We want to thank you again for all your love and support this school year. Let us soak in the love and enjoy the last 4 ½ weeks together before we move up to the next classroom adventures.
Please check out the upcoming events below so you do not miss out on the fun and end of school year closure dates.

Parent Referral Program:
If there’s one thing parents love to do, it’s talk about their children’s successes.
When friends ask you about your child’s experiences at Merryhill School, what type of success stories do you share? Do you mention the personal and educational discoveries your child is making thanks to our advanced curriculum? Do you talk about the new levels of self and social confidence your child has gained thanks to our encouraging atmosphere?
*For every new child you refer who enrolls at our school for three months, you’ll receive one FREE week of tuition for your child*.
