A Message From the Principal:
Welcome to Summer at Merryhill Preschool in Stockton.
June was quite a full and busy month as we celebrated the important men in our life with our Donuts for Dads treat bags and Father’s Day Photo Area. We ended our school year with our Pre-K Drive Thru Graduation Ceremony and celebrated the end of our very successful and interesting 2020-2021 school year.
This Summer started with a burst of energy, excitement and change as our students moved to new classrooms and welcomed new friends to the Merryhill family. Our biggest, most exciting change, was welcoming our parents into our building for the first time in over a year. It has been such a joy to see everyone’s smiles and hear the laughter and conversations in the hallways as your children share their experiences with you. Please remember that sometimes it takes a while to acclimate to changes. For the past year your children have been used to their routine of giving hugs and saying goodbye at the front door, then walking to class with their teachers. The change of classrooms and drop off procedures is a total change to their routines. Some of our children are experiencing more separation anxiety because of their change in routine. When they see their parents and other parents dropping off and picking up in the building it is a new experience, an additional change to their routines. In order to maintain consistency while helping each child ease into their new routines, we ask that all students arrive by 9am. This timely arrival will allow our students to acclimate and begin their day in a less stressful way as well as be able to participate in the many projects and learning experiences that their teachers have planned for them throughout the day.
COVID protocols will remain in place and we remain committed to providing a safe place for both the children and staff. We will continue to wear masks, wash hands frequently, disinfect and sanitize throughout the day, do wellness checks and monitor for any illness. Thank you to all of our parents for working with us to make this happen.
This month we have many fun and exciting learning experiences planned for the entire school. Highlights include a visit from some “Wild Animals” and a fun Bubble Dance Party.
Please be on the lookout for information regarding this year’s annual “Kids Helping Kids” campaign. We will be promoting early literacy in our community by collecting new and gently used books to fill the “Little Free Libraries” in our community.
