A Note from Our Principal
As October begins, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate the season’s transition and the exciting opportunities it brings for our students. Last month we celebrated family through Grandparents Day, Hispanic Heritage Month, and Apple week. Autumn provides an ideal setting for learning, with so many changes occurring outdoors and the chance to incorporate new, natural elements into our artwork and learning centers. This month, we have a range of exciting events lined up such as World Teacher Day, Family Hoe Down, Fire Engine visit and Trick or Trunk. As always, thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We’re eager for a season of growth, discovery, and fun.
Sincerely,
Karina Medina
World Teacher Day
World Teacher Day is an international day held annually on October 5th that celebrates the work of teachers. World Teacher Day aims to focus on “appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world” and to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching. We are celebrating our teachers on October 3rd with Pajama Day! Thank you to our Cougar Team for helping us prepare for the event by creating posters for our teachers and providing breakfast items. The teachers have been feeling a wealth of appreciation through our Apple Tree as they stop by daily to take a peek and we will continue next week with World Teacher Day!
Fire Safety Month
October is fire safety month! During the week of October 7th, the children will learn through books, activities, and will practice stop, drop and roll. We will also have a fire drill on October 10th to practice our school safety plan. We will end the week with the fire engine visiting our school. Our Intermediates and Pre-K classes will meet the fire fighters and hear about fire safety first hand.
Family Hoe Down
Yeehaw! It’s that time of year again to celebrate our school family with our annual Hoe Down. Come join the fun on October 17th from 5:00pm-7:00pm! Enjoy Music, Food, Games, Prizes and of course Dancing! We highly recommend western attire during the event which will be located at the Cougar Quad at the Elementary School. We look forward to catching up with our families!
Door Competition
During the week of October 21st, we will have a friendly competition of the classroom door decorations! The children and teachers will work together to make a spooky door. Parents please help us by casting your vote during the week and remember to look for children’s work and creativity! We are looking forward to seeing all the spooktacular doors!
Trunk or Treat
We are inviting our amazing families to join the trunk or treat fun! Decorate your car, pass out treats, and create smiles for our children. All treats must be nut free for the safety of our allergies. Children will have the opportunity to share their creative costumes with their friends.
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record
We are excited to participate in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record – the world’s largest shared reading experience that celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. Students will participate in activities throughout the week of October 21 inspired by the book, Piper Chen Sings, by Phillipa Soo and Maris Pasquale Doran. It is an inspiring story celebrating self-expression, family bonds, and conquering doubts. Keep an eye out for more details in Links to Home!
