Message from the Principal
Dear Merryhill Families,
Love is in the air at Merryhill, and it’s extra contagious! We are at one of my favorite points of the year, but it always comes as a bitter sweetness to me. We are already looking at where our students are at and where they need to be developmentally for their next year transition. Yes, I cannot believe this time is already here, but it is definitely an exciting time. We will be sending Parent Reports home via your end of month folders, so please keep an eye out for these folders.
I wanted to reiterate that I have posted the remainder of this school year’s events on our monthly calendar. It has been available for the last 3 months, but I wanted to bring it up again, so that if you haven’t already done so you can access the important dates of events. An example of some important events to mark your calendar for will be upcoming closures, Mother’s Day on May 12th, Father’s Day on June 2nd, and Pre-K graduation will be held on June 15th. Be sure to keep an eye out for specific details closer to these dates.
This month, we will host our annual Valentine’s Day parties. Please be sure to check your child’s classroom for any sign ups and what to bring for the day. Additionally, we will be closed in honor of President’s Day on Monday, February 20th. Upcoming next month, we will be closed on Monday, March 6th for our Professional Development day for our teachers. We welcome back our friends from California-Hawaii Elks Major Project, Inc. for our annual FREE vision screening on Tuesday, February 21 & Wednesday, February 22. If you do not want your child to participate, please let me know.
I wanted to highlight a note from last month’s newsletter, as it I have continued to receive comments from families regarding this:
“Additionally, I want to take this time to make a note that the health and safety of our students are our top priority at Merryhill. Now that weather is getting cooler and it is getting darker sooner, a few key points need to be pointed out. Please be sure to send your child with a weather appropriate jacket and clothing for the day. Also, our parking lot is very busy with parents dropping off and picking up at the same time. Please drive at a maximum speed of 5 mph whether there are other cars present or not. When pulling out of parking spaces, please do so being aware that children and parents are walking to cars parked on the streets. We have had a number of parents make comments that they have felt unsafe, and I am hoping now that the hustle and bustle of the holiday season has passed, that we are able to assure a safe environment for students at all times. Last, but not least, I have included the child safety seat laws effective January 2017.”
As always, if you have any questions or concerns about anything regarding the program or Merryhill, please feel free to reach me at your convenience via email or phone at 530-753-9210.
Sincerely,
Jherica McEndree
