May is a month of celebration! In April we celebrated the joy of childhood, but the month of May we give honor to those who ensure the quality of childhood….our very own Merryhill teachers. It is a privilege to shape the minds and destiny of our children. It is a joyful experience to be a teacher. We also want to take the time to show our Mothers how much they are appreciated. At Merryhill we desire to honor Moms and Teachers this month with special activities and tokens of our appreciation. Each and everyday our teachers and Mothers have been so involved and supportive of our school and the children we care for. What a winning combination! Great Moms and Gifted Teachers. Thanks to everyone who helped make our Week of the Young Child a great success. The children clearly enjoyed themselves. Our book fair was a great success! We earned over $700 in free books for our classrooms. Thank you for your continued support. As always, be sure to pick up your child’s Links to Learning folder at the end of every month! You don’t want to miss out on all the wonderful information shared about your child’s learning.
Sincerely, Stephanie Gill/Principal

Teacher Appreciation Week- We will be celebrating National Teacher Appreciation week during May 8-12. Our teachers are there to comfort and care for your child while you are away. The dedication they show for Early Childhood Education is greatly appreciated! This year we will be having a parents hosted luncheon. In previous years we have done a potluck put on by parents for the teachers during this week, but due to the overwhelming amount of food we had left over, this year we have decided to take monetary donations instead and buy the teachers lunch from you all! Please remember that this is optional for those of you who would like to donate towards it. You are also welcome to show your appreciation to your child’s teacher by writing them a special card, or having your child draw them a special picture. If you would like to buy your child’s teacher something special but don’t know what she may like, we have “all about me” forms upfront that the teachers have all filled out
Thank you!!!
Happy Mother’s Day- We all know that being a mom can often be the most difficult task in the world, yet it is by far the most rewarding. To honor all of our very special Mothers, we’d like you to join us on Friday May 12th @3:00 for a special treat with your little one! We hope to see all our Merryhill Moms here on this special day!
Outdoor Environments- By now I hope you all have had a chance to check out our outdoor environments that were created by our teachers and parent volunteers. We have a construction area, music walls in every play yard, chalk boards and much much more!
Garden- Each of our classrooms have their own garden boxes that they have planted in outside in the large play yard. The children will watch their gardens grow over the next couple of months. Please be sure to ask your child about what they have planted in their gardens.
Pre-K 1 & 2 Graduation!- The graduation for our Pre-K classes is set to be Friday June 16th, from 6:30-8:30pm. It will be held at the Valley Oak Ballroom at the Wackford Center in Elk Grove. More information will be passed out to those families with children that will take place in our graduation ceremony.
