Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! We are so excited about 2018 and what Merryhill School of Keller has in store for the upcoming year. Thank you to all the families that donated pajamas and books for the Pajama Program Organization. We were able to collect close to 50 books and pajamas for children in need in our local area. Your gracious donations were greatly appreciated.
A new year means you and your family may be forming resolutions and new habits. This is a great opportunity to involve your children and discuss setting goals. Goals can be as big or small as you wish. One example might be to teach your Pre-K child to tie their shoes. The rewards are so big for both parent and child in achieving this goal. On the 15th, we will be celebrating Martin Luther King Day. That day your child will share their ideas to make the world a better place and begin a classroom project to expand this idea.
We have had some very cold days as of late. Don’t forget to bring your child with a jacket. We try to go outside every day weather permitting. During these colder days, we may limit our time. The fresh air is so good for us and helps keep the germs away. Our brains are pattern seeking and your child is very familiar with their classroom’s daily schedule. We may only have the opportunity to run to the fence and back, but it keeps everyone on schedule and to know what to expect to come next in the daily routine.
With winter upon us, we have some fun activities this month. We will be having a Merryhill Snow Day on the 24th. During pick up time, we will have fun winter activities such as, paper ice skating and a snow ball war. We look forward to enjoying the cold weather activities, but from the warmth of our school lobby.
Sincerely,
Anita Johnson, Principal
