Updates from the Design Lab
The Design Lab is a classroom where students can come and express themselves in various ways. During the second trimester the Design Lab has been busy with lots of different projects. Middle school students have enjoyed working with wood burning, 3D printing, Lego Robotics, Podcasting, Sewing, and much more. It is always exciting to see so many students developing different skills as they explore and create in the Design Lab.
For students in Kindergarten through 5th grade this space is a place for them to reinforce their classroom curriculum through different creative projects. Currently there is a lot of excitement with “Do Ink Green Screen” app. (Do Ink provides Creativity Apps -Green Screen by Do Ink and Animation and Drawing by Do Ink for students to show what they know in education.) Students in second grade were introduced to this app which they will then use in their individual Hero project within their classroom. As shown below, students took pictures of themselves in the D Lab and placed George Washington Carver in the background. Then we printed out their pictures and students were able to write about Mr. Carver as part of a class writing assignment.
