A Note From Our Principal,
We had a wonderful month with our students and families in February! We had 17 parents come in and read to our students and the children (and parents) loved it! What an amazing way to showcase the importance and joy of reading! The Cat in the Hat visited our school on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2nd, and read a story to every class, encouraging them to put colored spots on their faces and hands as they read his favorite book, Put me in the Zoo! The students also had a great time making fish bowl aquarium snacks and matching, mixed matched socks!
In addition to these amazing activities, the students also had the opportunity to participate in a fundraiser called, Art to Remember! The students’ original artwork will be in later this week, and parents will have the opportunity to purchase their child’s art work on a coffee mug, mouse pad, key chain or lunch box. Take a look at a few of the sample items behind Ms. Darice’s desk.
March is going to be another amazing month filled with interactive activities!
March 12th – 14th: We are hosting a Barefoot Books Book fair. The books sold during this fair are incredibly well made, award-winning books that aim to develop mindful children, empowering them to develop a strong sense of identity and character. Check them out online: http://www.barefootbooks.com/. In each classroom, you will see a Teacher wish list if you would like to purchase a book for the classroom.
Throughout the month of March, we will be celebrating Spring by harvesting caterpillars and gardening in our backyard. Our teachers are always busy coming up with ways to take their lessons outside as weather permits so be sure to check out their bulletin boards as they complete new and exciting projects with the students!
Don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 11th!
Sincerely,
Jill McSpadden
Principal
