Well, June is here and another school year is coming to a close. This is a time of such mixed emotions for me. I will be losing an entire group of students to kindergarten, some of whom I have known since they were infants, others who have only been with us short time. You have all become “my kids.” I will miss you and I am so proud of your accomplishments and growth during your time with us here in Rocklin. I wish you and your families the best of luck as you move into the next stage of your educational journeys.
Our students have been so successful this year. They have learned their ABC’s and 123’s, gained communication skills, (our infants through baby sign), crawled, learned to stand and walk, learned their colors and shapes, grasped the concepts of addition and subtraction, written their names and the academic list goes on and on. Beyond the academics though, I am proud that my students have gained confidence and self-assurance this year. They are learning that we are all different and unique; each of us having special skills, talents and qualities. Our children have learned to share (some better than others !), show kindness to others and be gentle when needed. Those are attributes that will help them become part of a larger community. It is truly amazing to play even a small role in their growth.
The staff and I would like to thank you for your OVERWHELMING show of thanks during our teacher and staff appreciation week in May. You were so kind and thoughtful. Thank you for acknowledging our hard work!
Calling all dads, grandpas, uncles and other special gentlemen in our students’ lives, to share in our celebration on June 13. We’ll have Root Beer Floats and some special activities to help our children show you how important you are. You will be receiving an invitation in the very near future, so make sure to save the date.
We are looking forward to a new school year with our continuing students. To those families who will be moving on, we wish you all the best as you start a new chapter in your lives.
Warmly,
Sue Stewart
Principal

For Parents and Teachers
Bev Bos describes how “a sense of joy in children can be quiet, loud, gentle and fun. A sense of joy can be heard, smelled, and tasted when children make food. It can be muddy and dirty when children work in the garden and when they dig holes.…It can be blue, red, yellow, purple, brown, black and orange when children do art. A sense of joy can be found in the aching tiredness at the end of the day for children, teachers, and parents who have spent their day together.”
Reminders
Nut Free: We are a NUT FREE school. We do have some students with nut allergies and appreciate your help in keeping all of our children safe and healthy.
California Licensing Regulations require that parents use our electronic sign-in/out system daily, for both drop off and pick up.
Tuition Options: We appreciate that you make every effort to make your tuition payments on time. As you are aware, tuition payments are due on Monday of each week (or on your child’s first day of attendance). To save you time, the headache of having to remember your checkbook every Monday and to avoid those pesky late fees, consider enrolling in our automatic payment program at no charge. We also accept credit card payments or you can pay through the Parent Portal from our website. Please talk to Sue or Aubrey for more information.
L2H Binders: Our Links to Home Binders are located either just outside your child’s classroom or right inside the classroom door. Please make it a point to check these daily. We send Ouch Reports, Merry-Grams and other school information home via these binders. They are a great communication tool!
Art Files: Please remember to check them at least once a week to pick up your child’s amazing art work.
Clothing and Nap Items: Remember to update your child’s extra clothing as the seasons change and your child grows! Please label all of their items so we can return anything that may be forgotten at the end of the day. Any soiled items will be placed in plastic bags and put into your child’s cubby. Each child needs a blanket and crib size sheet for rest time. Sheets and blankets must be taken home on Fridays (or you child’s last day of attendance during the week), laundered and returned on the first day of attendance.
Merryhill Elementary School: If you are interested in having your child stay with Merryhill School for kindergarten and beyond, please visit our elementary campus at 1115 Orlando Ave. in Roseville, just off of I-80 and Riverside Ave. The school contact information is 916-783-3010 or connie.curiel@nlcinc.com.
