Dearest Families,
February ended with summer like weather!! We look forward to more sunshine! We will start our garden again when the weather starts to get a little warmer! The children, teachers and I will plant herbs to taste and smell, veggies to eat and create projects with, and colorful flowers to look at and draw! This garden will give us even more real-life learning experiences to incorporate to our Links to Learning curriculum!
Don’t forget to fill out the SMG survey! We have made enough lucky bamboo plants for each family to take home! There are 55 people who have filled out the survey so far…I have read great comments and cannot wait to share the wonderful things you have to say about us with our staff!! I have 100 more lucky bamboo to give away…if you have not picked up your lucky bamboo and took the survey, don’t be shy! We would love to see you and thank you with a gift. 😊
Friendly Reminder:
With the days getting longer and springtime just around the corner, we leap into March with a renewed sense of excitement! Starting the excitement, we had our special visitor on Monday. The Cat in the Hat came and read to the children in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday!
In addition, our spring pictures are happening next week! Refer to the email that Ms. Vanessa sent out for the date your child will get their picture taken. Let us know if you have any questions.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is over. We did not meet our goal, but we sold lots of books which means our teachers will receive many free books from the Scholastic’s online website.
Please be aware that the school is closed tomorrow for Teacher In-Service Day, March 6th. And that Day Light Savings time begins on Sunday. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday, so you are not late to work 🙂
Our St. Patrick’s Day potluck will be coming up on March 17th at 3:30 pm! Hold on to your hats, because April is jammed packed with thrills too. Check the calendar below for all the special activities.
Attention Pre-K families:
I have a couple important reminders for children graduating to Kindergarten next school year.
For our children who are graduating to Kindergarten in the new school year 2020/2021, visit the Elementary front office for information on how to reserve your spot! They already have 41 kindergartners signed up and not many spots remaining.
The Elementary School will also have a carnival for all families on Sat. March 21st from 10am – 1pm. Come and join the fun!! This is also where you will be able to get information on the Kindergarten Summer Camp program. There will be registration forms there to sign up for their summer camp. This summer camp is for all families, even outside families. If you know of any friends or family who need a fun place for their child to go for the summer months, Merryhill Elementary School is the way to go!
