Student Learning Outcomes at Merryhill Midtown

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are clearly defined statements that articulate the specific knowledge, abilities, and attitudes students will obtain by graduation. SLOs serve as benchmarks for program efficacy, ensuring students acquire targeted competencies aligned with program goals.

Key characteristics of SLOs include:

  • Measurable: SLOs should be quantifiable, allowing instructors to assess student mastery through assignments, exams, or projects.
  • Action-oriented: They focus on what students will be able to do with the knowledge they gain, not just memorization.
  • Aligned: SLOs should cascade across different educational levels (course, program, institution) to ensure a cohesive learning experience.

Merryhill Midtown’s Student Learning Outcomes:

Midtown’s SLOs align with our FIERCE program and the 6 character traits contained in the FIERCE acronym.

Fearless Communicators: Students will communicate confidently.

Innovative Thinkers: Students will demonstrate knowledge innovatively.

Enthusiastic Contributors: Students will contribute positively to the learning environment.

Responsible Citizen: Students will act as socially responsible citizens.

Compassionate Community Member: Students will demonstrate compassion within the community.

Enlightened Learners: Students will navigate through experiences as lifelong learners.

By aligning SLOs with the FIERCE program, Merryhill Midtown fosters a well-rounded educational experience that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and character to excel academically, and thrive as responsible and compassionate members of society.
