Merryhill School’s mission is to support the development of students with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding of the world around them, and a passion for lifelong learning and service. We stress the total development of each child – social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs – in a nurturing, engaging, and respectful environment that supports individual differences and learning styles through developmentally appropriate practices, academically challenging curriculum, and the integration of technology.
Letter from the Head of School:
Dear Future Parent,
Merryhill Elementary School in Elk Grove has provided outstanding private kindergarten through eighth grade education since 1998. Over the years, parents have complimented us on our warm and enthusiastic teachers, our understanding of the needs of each child and our rigorous, standards-based curriculum.
Merryhill teachers are passionate, dedicated individuals who use their creativity and sensitivity to bring our well-rounded curriculum to life. They personalize lessons to ensure that instruction is stimulating and challenging for each student. We believe that beyond the core subjects, classes in art, music, technology/innovative studies, Spanish and physical education are essential to educating the whole child.
Our curriculum is founded on rich and challenging content that engages students and inspires them to develop a love of learning. We understand, however, that students need more than academic knowledge to achieve future success. Field trips are one way to help students make real life connections to lessons learned in the classroom. We take advantage of the rich resources in our area by visiting places such as the State Capitol, SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity, Fog Willow Science on the Farm, Coloma Discovery School, Old Town Sacramento, and other local treasures.
Children receive the best possible education when parents are involved. For that reason, we offer many convenient ways to stay in touch with us including weekly e-newsletters, classroom web pages and teacher email. We are proud to say that at our school, effective communication among parents, teachers and staff is a way of life.
Please feel free to contact me to schedule a private tour, to allow you and your child to experience Merryhill School. I look forward to meeting with you to gain an understanding of your child’s educational needs, and discuss how we can work together to meet them.
