Mr. Ben Gould - Middle School - Math & Science

2024-2025 parents and students,
From organization, social and academic responsibility, and self advocacy, I know our students will continue to overcome the obstacles before them with growth and a positive mindset.

For specific assignment descriptions, coursework, assessments, class communication, or grades, please visit Schoology ; Progress Reports, End-of-Trimester Report Cards, and student Trimester Elective schedules can be viewable on ALMA .

The primary Science curriculum that Midtown uses is STEMScopes; this curriculum is aligned with NGSS standards and is a terrific online tool that will be utilized extensively throughout our students’ middle school career. For Math, we will continue to use HMH and IXL for skill acquisition and practice in combination with a “flipped classroom” approach to learning. Below is a brief overview of what each course will be covering; for any further questions please reach out to me via email and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Classroom Notes

Mr. Gould has been teaching throughout the community for over 20 years and has been with Merryhill for the past 12 years in various facets. His speciality is in science, especially Anthropology and Archaeology, though he has taught mathematics and social studies as well. He holds a degree from Sacramento State in Anthropology and worked a few years for the Archaeological Research Center as a field and lab technician doing fieldwork on surveys and archaeological digs; this is where he trained in the vocational skills of Archaeology while developing a deep understanding and appreciation for Science, History, and Culture (as well as meeting his wife!). He has also worked in Special Education for San Juan Unified School District with ASD students, learning alternative communication and teaching practices before joining the Merryhill family. In addition to teaching, his wife and he are busy raising their 6 and 8 year old daughters while enjoying the outdoors, painting, cooking, tinkering, and pretty much anything “Nerd Culture” and is currently researching SEL skill-building using Collaborative Tabletop Gaming (Such as Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer).
