Opportunities to experiment with cause and effect. Outdoor adventures to develop balance and coordination. Links to Learning in our Toddler Classroom: Language & Literacy Every day, our teachers read stories, sing songs, and talk with our toddlers. These activities help them learn new words and practice listening and speaking. Repeating words and phrases makes them feel more comfortable using language to share what they need and want. Our teachers also ask simple questions to encourage toddlers to respond. Mathematical Thinking Through toys, games, and puzzles, our toddlers start to recognize shapes, colors, and numbers. Sorting and matching help to build early math skills in our students. Our teachers use hands-on play to introduce these ideas in a fun way, making math easier to grasp. Social-Emotional Learning Our toddlers start learning basic self-help skills. They also begin to play side by side, called parallel play. Our teachers guide them in routines, like putting toys away, to help them feel independent and capable. Group activities promote sharing and taking turns. Wellness Climbing, running, and handling small objects help make their bodies stronger and more in control. Activities like stacking blocks and coloring develop coordination and grip strength. Creative Expression Our toddlers sing songs, dance, paint, and draw. They explore colors, shapes, and sounds, providing new ways to share their ideas and emotions. With crayons, paint, and clay they get a chance to create. Music and dance build their rhythm and movement skills. Scientific Exploration Children explore cause and effect, use simple tools, and observe items in nature. They learn about their world by asking questions. Our teachers introduce basic science concepts through activities such as measuring plant growth or exploring with water. Our students practice critical thinking as they make observations and predictions.
